“Love each other as I have loved you..Serve one another humbly in love.”
In response to God’s love for us, The United Church serves others by partnering with missionaries as well as local and global Christian outreach organizations. We seek to do God’s will as set forth in New Testament scripture to “use whatever gift you have received to serve others” Galatians 5:13.
The United Church provides direct support to individual missionaries in locations such as Thailand, Palau, South Africa and Congo. We support several programs in Los Alamos and throughout New Mexico. We also support six denominations and eight national and world missions. Each mission is evaluated on a yearly basis by the Missions and Service Board.
When online news is upsetting and the desperation of people seems overwhelming, we might ask, what can be done?
That’s when we step up as people of faith to serve!
Join The United Church in volunteering to meet the immediate needs of people in our region. This might look like:
Contact John Puckett through the church office to learn more about getting involved with the Missions and Service Board.
Host a Christmas party at Truchas Preschool - Truchas preschool serves children from ages 3-5 in northern New Mexico. The bilingual program provides social, developmental and language skills with the mission of “children learning through playing”. For many years, The United Church has supported the preschool with visits, an annual Christmas party and monetary support.
Help out at Monday Night @ the Pit - During the summer months in Los Alamos, graduate students, interns and other young adults meet, eat and play volleyball! Church members prepare a home cooked meal and build community with our summer visitors.
Volunteer at the Thrift Shop -
The United Church Thrift Shop, operated by the Women's Christian Service Society (WCSS), is open for shoppers on Wednesdays from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. It is located in the basement of Craig Hall on The United Church Campus.

A dedicated
Mission Correspondent for each mission allows the church to learn alongside each of its partners. The correspondent communicates regularly with a contact at the mission, prays for them, and reports to the board about their needs
The United Church provides direct support to six mission workers. For example in Thailand, Carol and Leith Fujii approach evangelism by investing in people and growing the church by training leaders. Leith is a theology and evangelism instructor in Bangkok and Carol teaches English there. Other missionaries we support serve in Palau, Congo and South Africa.
We have partnered over the years with organizations such as:
Recently we have also chosen to support:
